In the Croatian bidding zone, a 15 minute imbalance settlement period (15 min ISP) will be introduced for the electricity market starting from January 1, 2024.

By  informing the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency, and in agreement with the Croatian operator of the energy market ltd. (HROTE), in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/2195 of 23 November 2017 establishing a guideline on electricity balancing (EBGL), HOPS initiated and officially started the process of preparing all entities on the electricity market regarding the introduction of a 15 min ISP.
We remind you that there is a derogation in force at the moment from the obligations stipulated in Article 53. of the EBGL Regulation, so the calculation interval is 1 hour at the moment.

Croatian market participants on the wholesale markets will be able to balance their positions at the 15-minute level bilaterally within the Croatian bidding zone from the beginning of the introduction of the 15 min ISP on January 1, 2024, and cross-zonal by using the connected (via Single Intraday Coupling - SIDC) intraday CROPEX ID market across the Slovenian-Croatian and Hungarian-Croatian borders from January 10th, 2024.

According to previous announcements, HOPS, in cooperation with HROTE, plans to hold a workshop with market participants, where the transition to a 15-minute calculation interval and all the obligations of stakeholders in the preparatory phase (testing) will be presented.
The workshop will be held in the week from September, 18th to 22nd, 2023. Market participants will be informed about the exact date of the workshop in a timely manner by receiving an invitation to the workshop.
